2017 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend

After talking about it all last year after the Princess Half, I finally signed up to run my first full at Disney. I can not wait to get started. I even recruited a friend to run it with me. She has already gotten our training plan written out (she's a bit excited to help me through my first full) :)

I am hoping to document my training so I have something to look back on and hopefully help someone else who may be looking at running their first full. So be on the lookout for blogs and videos of that later this year.

2015 Disney's Enchanted 10K Recap

Since I was doing the Glass Slipper Challenge, I knew I was going to run a much slower 10K so that I could save my legs for the half the next day.

Flat Ramona ready for the Enchanted 10K

Race morning started off early. I set my alarm for 2:20. I surprisingly jumped right up and got ready. I was out the door 10 minutes before 3. Plenty of time and luckily it wasn't too far of a walk to the buses either.

For some reason, I got on the second bus instead of the first one, which is fine cause I really wasn't in that big of a hurry to get there. It was chilly that morning but nothing like the Frozen 5K the day before.

Arrived at Epcot in plenty of time. Seeing how this was my first runDisney event I was able to walk around for a bit before heading over to my corral.

Brandi and her parents showed up. We talked for a bit. Before I knew, it was time to head over to the corrals.

Since I was in corral A, it was really cool walking past the other corrals with them cheering us on. Makes you feel like you are some elite runner. Ha Ha.

At 5 AM, we were off!!

I had to tell myself once I crossed the start to keep it slow. I have a tendency to just want to take off. Races do that to me. I had to tell myself that I have 13.1 miles to run the next day.

Mile 1 came before I knew it. :(

We turned on to a "hill". I say "hill" because it's nothing like the hills here in Atlanta.

At this point, I was feeling great. Legs were not tired from walking around the parks the day before, so that was a plus.

Mile 2 came up.

Mile. 3. Half way done. Still maintaining a good pace. Not too fast which is what I wanted.

Mile 4. Entering Epcot. So excited to run in the park when it was closed. So pretty.

Mile 5. Am I really almost done? LOL

Mile 6. Man this race went by fast. Only .2 to go.

And done!

I finished with a time of 1:07.

Behind

I've been so busy that I am behind on recaps. Finally published last year's Peachtree Road Race recap. Up next will be the Enchanted 10K, Princess Half, and then the GA Publix Half.

I am hoping that this week will slow down some that I can work on each of those recaps. Stay tuned because I am sure the Disney recaps will be picture overload. :)

Hope everyone had a great Easter.

I did it!

Last week I was suppose to run my last long run before going to Disney, but my body had other plans. The week before M was sick so I guess he passed the head cold to me. Not what I needed. It's weird. Normally when either of us is sick, the other one doesn't get it. The one time I do not have time to get sick, I get it. What the heck is up with that? Luckily, I kicked it within a week even though I felt like I was dying (no, not literally) during the week.

On Sunday, I decided to take it easy and go for a short 2 mile run. The run was okay. Most of my friends would have said I was running fast, but I didn't feel like I was. I felt so drained. But I knew that was probably going to be the case. I am just glad I decided only to run 2 miles.

Tuesday, I decided I would give 5 miles a go. Same thing happened, I felt sluggish and still drained of energy. I was starting to think I wasn't going to be able to run 10 miles. A few friends reassured me that I would be able to run the 10K and Princess with no problems seeing how I had already run 9 miles a few weeks back.

Today rolls around and I decided I was going to give the 10 miles a try. First 4 miles wasn't bad. I didn't feel tired, but the last 6 was a fight. I got to 8 and decided I could get 2 more miles. I did it! I feel better now knowing I hit my 10 miles (I usually try and do that for each half I train for). Now it's taper time! :)

Races

What races do you have planned right now for 2015?

I'm currently registered for the Glass Slipper Challenge and the GA Publix Half. I am looking at doing the Chattahoochee Challenge 10K and the AJC Peachtree Road Race 10K. Like I mentioned in my previous post I am not going to be racing as much.

2015 Glass Slipper Challenge

I was so busy last week packing for my trip that I forgot to mention I got into the Glass Slipper Challenge. :) I am so excited and ready for February to be here!

This will be my first runDisney event. Can not wait! :)
