Last week of training

It's my last week of training for the Peachtree Road Race. :)

I went on a 4 mile run this morning. My pace was slower than normal but planned that. I am trying to make myself get use to running outside. I think it's been 2 weeks since I have been on a treadmill so that's good.

I have a 5 mile run planned on Thursday and then a 3 mile on Saturday. I may even try and squeeze in 2 miles on Sunday before starting the new week. On Tuesday, I only have to run 2 miles. I like having a day off before a race to rest up and get ready. :)

Hope anyone who is running the race next Thursday is ready. Or are have you procrastinated until this week to start getting those miles in?  ;)

2000 views

I just want to thank everyone who visits my page to read about my little running adventures (if you want to call it that). It really means a lot to me. Still crazy to think that in August of 2012 I started this blog to document my Insanity work outs and running. Things have really changed in almost a year. :)

I also wanted to remind everyone who does happen to read this..if you want to continue getting updates of when I post, you'll need to sign up at bloglovin or bookmark this page. Google is doing away from the Google Reader come July 1st.

Thanks again guys for checking out my page!

Trippadoodle 5K Recap

Since the race was only 12 minutes from me I got to sleep in a little bit this morning. I have to say that was nice. If I could find more local races like that then I would be set. :)

Trippadoodle Trot 5K was great. I was able to run for a good cause. The money will be used to help Tripp and his family. If you haven't heard about him, I strongly suggest you go and check out their FB page... https://www.facebook.com/TrippHalsteadUpdates

I arrived at Coolray Field, home of the Gwinnett Braves, at around 6:40 AM. Immediately met up with Brandi and her Mom, Karen. We walked to get their race numbers and shirts. Since Brandi also had a little job to do, she went on her way to do that while I waited for her to finish before walking over to the start area.

Start area was a tad cramped. There were runners, walkers, and first timers in the mix. I decided to get as close as possible to the front since I really didn't want to use all my energy going around people.

I heard the start was a bit crazy. Everyone was wanting to go that some were going around everyone and missing the start mat. Oops. I am going to assume they were the first timers. ;)

Photo evidence of some running around it. :)

There really isn't much to say about the course. We ran a little bit in the parking lot before heading out on the road. The course was a little hilly. I really didn't get tired until we turned around and I had to hit the hills again.

I did finish strong though. I ended up placing 4th in my A/G. I just missed placing 3rd by a minute. Bummer! :(

Brandi calls this my intense running photo

My official time was 26:19.

After I finished I grabbed water and waited for Brandi and her Mom to finish. Of course after waiting to see if maybe I had somehow placed, we ended off to breakfast at Chick-fil-a. :)

Almost forgot I got a Team Boom shirt. :)

Day Before Trippadoodle 5K

I haven't updated this in over a week. Shocker! I have been busy with work, running,  and reading up on nutrition and the what not.

Running this week has been interesting. I went for my longer run yesterday and the hills absolutely took all my energy right out of me. Am I scared about my upcoming races? Absolutely not. What I do in training is usually way different on race day.

Tomorrow is the the Trippadoodle 5K. I can not wait. I am going later to get my number and shirt so I can somewhat sleep in tomorrow morning. Did I mention the race is only 12 min from me? Yay!!! :)

A friend of mine sent me a text the other night to let me know she signed up for the Princess Half. So excited for her. This will be her first half marathon and as of right now, her first race. I am going to try and get her to do a few 5Ks or even a 10Ks in the future. She is just starting out, so hopefully with my help she will do just fine. :)

Gotta cut this short. I have a few things to do before I go for a easy run later.

I hope everyone has a great weekend. If you are racing tomorrow, good luck! I will have a recap of my race up sometime this weekend.

Happy Friday

I hope everyone has a great weekend. If you are out there racing...stay hydrated and good luck!

Oh, and Happy Father's Day to any Dad's that may read this blog.

Hard to believe this post will make it 102 entries. When I started this blog, it was for me to keep track of my Insanity progress. I did just that plus more. Now I mainly use it for running and what not.

Sometime in July (probably after my vacation), I plan on starting back up Insanity. It truly is a great work out. A little tough at times, but no one ever said it was going to be easy. I can't wait to dig deeper.  :)

Anyways, this is a pointless entry. I got on here to wish every a great weekend but didn't want to leave it at that. :)

The picture below made me laugh. I am have seriously done that to a few people.

Oh,and one last thing...

Yesterday I got my Peachtree Road Race number..

I am in Wave D. Third times the charm? I am hoping to graduate to Wave C next year.

Modify Watch

Last week I won a giveaway over at MRScrashmattb thinks aloud. I was super excited to get my Modify Watch. I was able to pick out one face and two bands. I picked the navy and cool mist strap, and the silver face. I literally was going back and forth on which face and bands. After what seemed like forever I settled on those.

On Monday, my watch came! :)

I decided to put the cool mist band on first. I love it!!

These watches are really awesome and I can not wait to add on to it. If you are interested in them, go on over to Modify Watches.

3 weeks away until the Peachtree Road Race. I am excited!

Are you getting excited??

Cocogo

Two weeks ago I entered a giveaway for some Cocogo from EricaFinds. I have had coconut water before but didn't really like it. I figured I would give it another shot. When I found out I had won, I chose the grape flavor. I love grape so maybe I'll like this. I haven't had a chance to taste it, but I promise I will soon during one of my work outs.

Here's a little info taken from their site:

If you want more info on this product go check them out at Cocogo

Possum Trot 10K Recap

Today started off very early for me. The alarm went off at 4:40 AM (why do I do this to myself?). I wanted to get their in plenty of time to park near the the CNC (Chattahoochee Nature Center) and to also get my bib.

Arrived shortly before 6 and got my bib. I met up with Brandi walking back to the car then soon after saw Jen. We all hung out until Jill got there and got her bib. They had to go back to the car so since I had everything with me I hung around the finish area before walking up to the start line. It was a .5 mile walk to the start, which didn't feel like it. Maybe I should have jogged up?

Quick picture before walking to the start

Race started right at 7:30 AM. We went right back down to the finish area and passed everyone spectating.

I felt great until the first turn around. For whatever reason the sun was really getting to me. I felt like it was getting warmer every step I was taking. I took a small break shortly after 3 mile and seeing Jen. I grabbed a little bit of water from the second water station. Didn't drink much just enough to get something in my system. I was doing okay for the next mile or so. Once we turned onto the main road again to head back up to the finish area (we had to pass it), I needed another little break. The sun had taken whatever energy I had. I decided to push it to the next water station to hydrate a little for tackling the last two miles.

I knew I was close to mile 5 and then soon I would be at 6. I wasn't expecting the hill after mile 5. You went up and back down turned around to go back up again. I pushed up the hill then walked a little. I wanted to finish strong so I took off. I rounded the curve at mile 6 and saw Jill. I was keeping an eye on the clock at the finish. I knew I was either going to PR or just miss my PRR PR.

As I crossed clock time said 54:07. My official time was 53:53. I beat my PRR PR and also beat my time from the Run the River 10K!!!

At this point I knew I had beaten my current PR

And here is the shirt:

Even with my stops I had a great one. No pains or ankle rolling. I think I am ready for the Peachtree. Or at least hope I am.

One last race before July 4th. I can't wait to run the Trippadoodle 5K on June 22nd. If anyone in GA is interested in participating go to this link to sign up!. Trippadoodle Trot 5K
