Last Full Month of Training for the Peachtree

May went by way too fast. I can't believe I am in my last full month of training for the Peachtree Road Race. It seems like yesterday I was just signing up for it. I am excited about it though. It truly is one of my favorite races to participate in even if its way too crowded.

Here is my training schedule for June:

6.2 miles - June 1st - Possum Trot 10K

3 miles - June 4th

6 miles - June 6th

2 miles - June 8th or 9th

5 miles - June 11th

3 miles - June 13th

3 miles - June 15th or 16th

2 miles - June 18th

5 miles - June 20th

3.1 miles -  June 22nd - Trippadoodle's 5K Run

4 miles - June 25th

5 miles - June 27th

3 miles - June 29th or 30th

2 miles - July 2nd LAST DAY OF TRAINING BEFORE JULY 4th  :)

Like always I will do my best to go by this schedule. I may add more miles to each running depending on how I am feeling.

Who is ready for the big party down Peachtree RD?

I am really anxious to know what wave I will be in. :)

Memorial Day Weekend and more mail

Hoping everyone is having a great long weekend. Are you participating in a race on Memorial Day? Or are you just going to do a little running on your own? I got my 6 mile run in this morning. I wasn't sure if I was going to be able do that after being on my feet a lot these last 2 days at work, but I did it!!

This week was a great week for mail. Here are the two things I got in the mail.

First up HB Tune Handband. I entered this giveaway over at Mindy's Fitness Journey.

I chose the large hand band since I have my iPhone 5 in the otterbox. I haven't taken this out for a test run yet, but plan to sometime this week or whenever I have another short run. I like the idea of this. I normally hold my phone on the shorter runs so instead of having my death grip on it I can place it in this case. If you are interested in something like this go check out: HB Tune

Second thing to come in the mail..NUUN.  I won this over at Running Shoes and Bugaboo's blog. I absolutely love this stuff. I usually have some before and after a run. If you haven't check them out yet, what are you waiting for? This stuff is AMAZING!!!

I can't wait to finally try the Watermelon. I had the grape one today. I like having a variety of different flavors to choose from.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend! I am off to walk the pup at the park.  :)

I love mail days!

So last week I was notified that I won a pair of Locklaces from thepaceofitall. I was super excited since I absolutely love Locklaces. I chose the color orange. I am not a big neon yellow person so I figured this would also somewhat stand out during an early morning or evening run.

I can't wait to add them to my running shoes! :)

I'll be having another mail day sometime this week or next. I look forward to sharing that with you!

Time to get for a 7 mile run. Who is ready for the long weekend?

Mail Day!!!!

I love getting things in the mail. Except for bills...no one really wants to receive those, right?

A week or two ago I entered a giveaway on Lil Mys Ninja's page for a pair of KnuckleLights. I thought the idea was pretty cool and since I am bad about wearing things that will make me stand out at night  I decided to enter it. On May 10th, I got an E-mail saying I won!! I was sooooo excited. I sent my info back to her and was notified that my item had been shipped!

On Wednesday, my knuckle lights arrived! :)

I haven't taken them out for a test run yet but I am hoping to soon!

If you haven't heard of them, check them out!

Very Inspiring Blog Award

On Tuesday, Jen notified me that she nominated me and my blog for the "Very Inspiring Blow Award". :)  Jen has really inspired me. She was one of the people who encouraged me to sign up for my first half. Go check out her blog....Hello Fitness....We Meet Again

There are some guidelines that I must follow :
1.  Display the award logo on your blog.
2.  Link back to the person who nominated you.
3.  State 7 things about yourself.
4.  Nominate 15 bloggers for this blog and link to their pages.
5.  Notify these bloggers of the nomination and the awards’ requirements.

Here are 7 things about myself (don't judge, lol)...
  1. I absolutely hated running when I was younger. I would try to get out of it in PE or even during my softball years.
  2. I played softball for 12 yrs. At the school I attended, I made the varsity team as a 7th grader.
  3. When I am not working out, I am probably inside playing some sort of video game. I use to be on a "pro" team one year. Attended one tournament in Atlanta and decided I couldn't handle the competitiveness. (It was pretty crazy)
  4.  I like to get out on a nice day and take pictures of flowers, trees, etc. Basically anything worthy of a picture, I am going to take it. I especially love sunset pictures. I have a bunch from my 2 cruises to the Bahamas
  5. If you are a follower on Twitter then you can probably tell by now that I'm an Auburn fan. One room in my house is strictly Auburn. LOL
  6. I'm addicted to running shorts. If I could get away with wearing them all the time, I would. They are so comfortable.
  7. I love going to parks like Six Flags, but refuse to ride the roller coasters. Scared of the speed/height plus some of the jerking that the older ones do. (don't make fun of me, lol. I'll go and have a good time no matter what)

Coming up with 7 things about myself was hard. I walked away from the computer for a bit just so I could try and think of some things.

Anyways on to the nominees...

Unfortunately, I fail at nominating 15 people. :( I need to start following other blogs.

After procrastinating long enough, here are my pictures from the Finish on the 50 race that took place in Auburn, AL

Waiting around for the half marathon to start.

Lined up for the 5K run..

Off they go...

Me in the grey Atlanta Track Club shirt

Already focused on the race..

Off I go to make my way through the crowd..

Me running onto the field

Almost there...

Aubie high fiving runners as they cross the finish

Professional picture taken of me right before I made the turn to the stadium.
(I'll be buying this one photo. The one of me crossing the finish line was way too bright)

On May 13th, I finally received my trophy for placing 3rd in my A/G. :)

Sickness sucks

Last week I was suppose to run 6 miles but my body had other plans. Wednesday at work I noticed my throat was starting to get sore. I didn't really think anything of it until I woke up Thursday morning to go do my 6 mile run. My throat was sore and I was very achy. Since I am a very stubborn person especially when it comes to running, I still drove over to the gym. I sat in the car for a minute trying to make up my mind if I was going to go through with it or if I was going to just go home. I almost went in but I decided it was probably best that I sit this one out. I hated doing that. I felt like I was giving up (even though I wasn't).

My plan was to run on Sunday (Mother's Day) since I wasn't going to have time to on Saturday with work and all. But of course my body decided that I wasn't going to be able to run 3 miles due to a cough.

I swear I would get sick when it's getting warm out.

So here is it is Monday morning and I just got back from the gym. I feel MUCH better. I was able to get my 3 miles in without stopping. I am suppose to run tomorrow (2 miles) but I may switch up my running days this week. We will see how I feel tomorrow.

I also decided that those 6 miles that I was suppose to do will just be apart of my cross training on the bike. Maybe I'll do 12 miles on the bike... at least I can tweet and search the web while doing that.

Hope everyone had a great weekend. :)

PS. Please excuse any typos. I am updating from my phone right now since I am unable to get to my computer. :)

Second month of training for the PRR

Training in April went better than I had expected. I had a few days where I absolutely did not want to get out there and run, but I did anyways. I also kicked butt in the two races I participated in. :D

Just like last month I am going to try go by this schedule. I may add or reduce mileage. Hoping to keep the mileage and adding to it.

4 miles - April 30th

2 miles - May 2nd

3 miles - May 4th or 5th

5 miles - May 7th

6 miles - May 9th

3 miles - May 11th or 12th

2 miles - May 14th

3 miles - May 16th

3 miles - May 18th or 19th

6 miles - May 19th or 20th

7 miles - May 23rd

6 miles- May 25th or 26th

4 miles - May 28th

3 miles - May 30th

As of right now, I have no races for this month. I really need to focus on my training a bit more. I definitely slacked at the gym in April, so I am going to have to make up for it this month.

I hard to believe the clock is ticking away. One more full month after this then lets hope my training will have paid off.
